Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

Our conversation this morning:
Liam: Mom, you need to make me a balentine.
Me: I already did. Why?
Liam: because you love me. You make balentines for people you love.
Did you make it during nap time?
Me: Yes, Liam, I did.

The boys worked on their Valentines this week. I adapted a project that I've done in my classroom. It's really simple and kids love it- they get to tear paper. Who doesn't love that?!
Liam made a list of people he needed to send Valentine's to and I would guess that most of you reading this will be getting one.
{It's possible that you will get them in the mail, after valentine's day. that's how I roll.}
There were a few surprises. We made one for the garbage guys.
I learned something about Aaron today. He sat there and worked on this project for a half an hour and wanted to do more. He did a BETTER job than Liam and he actually finished more hearts. It's just possible that I have a child who will sit still during school. The teacher in me cringes inside when I imagine L in kindergarten. May God bless his teacher!!

After nap Liam worked on writing his name on his cards, and I glued them onto a colored scrap of paper. I think they turned out pretty cute, for a kid-made project.
I took care of a few other things during nap.

Heart shaped cinnamon rolls for Ryan. (not that the rest of us wont have a bite!)
These were easier than I expected and turned out pretty cute. All you do differently is roll the dough from the top and the bottom, and meet in the middle. I pinched the end to give it a better heart shape.
Cookies were mixed, rolled, baked, and decorated. My kitchen was very clean for my husband when he came home. ahem.
The hub's Valentine's gift. Ikea frame: $4.99, Michael's craft paper: $.59. Valentines for under $6.00? Priceless!
I chose to write "i love you because:" instead of printing it, since I wanted it to be in my own handwriting, but either way would work. Dry erase marker on the frame and I can change up the "because" when I feel like it.
Looking forward to all of the heart shaped fun we will have tomorrow.
I love LOVE.
