Aaron's Birth Story

With great joy we welcome Aaron Michael Shull into our family.

He was born on August 6 after a whirlwind of a (drug-free) labor. We arrived at the hospital at 1:30 in the morning, after calling L & D with her contractions 4-5 minutes apart for the last hour. She was *only* at 4 cm. Aaron was born 2 hours later: 3 minutes between the water breaking and holding Aaron in her arms.

(Interesting) Highlights:

- The nurses thought she was sleeping during the contractions (ha! How I fooled them!)

- Michaela yelling, “the baby is coming, get the doctor!”

- The doctor and nurses calmly coming into our room with expressions of, “this lady just thinks she is ready to push… we see this all the time…”

- The doctor yelling to Michaela, “DON’T push! Please just let us put our gloves on first!”

- After Baby Shull was born Michaela got to just hold him as the professionals took care of everything they couldn’t do before he was born.

- Dr’s comment: “Your umbilical chord is so long you could play jump rope with it!” (Umm… okay??)

- Three delicious glasses of juice. Who knew juice could taste so good?

- Blissful sleep from 6:30-9:30 and the best shower of my life

- Big brother Liam coming to visit: the expression of love and gentleness on his sweet face is imprinted in my memory forever.

- Baby Shull peeing on Ryan- gotta love those newborn boys!

- Calling the birth certificate lady 4 times, stopping her from coming, because we couldn’t decide on a name. Stuck with our original choice: Aaron.

- Homeward bound on Saturday afternoon!
