A cardboard box + a little imagination = hours of fun

Grandpa and Grannie (Liam's great grandparents) have been completing a makeover of their kitchen which turned out brilliant. Liam has enjoyed this process (tools, empty cabinets, big open spaces where ovens used to reside), as you would expect, including the added bonus of leftover appliance boxes.

I expect that we can all recall times in our lives when we shunned the new toy for a fantastically large box/playhouse/rocket ship/whatever you were imagining at the time. This was Liam's first imaginary experience, as Grandpa turned a discarded microwave box into Liam's house complete with door, two windows and a sun roof.

Liam was hesitant of this box at first, until he went inside with Grandpa, and it was later remodeled to include the sun roof. Currently it is the plaything of choice on Fridays when he is with the great-grands, and uses the roof as his play surface. Sometimes I wish I could have a large box to crawl into and spend hours reading in solitude. sigh...
