Like father, like son. **sigh**

A speed-demon? A need to try something dangerous? An uncoordinated man-child? A strong jaw? What is it that drives them???
As I said... like father, like son...

Today Liam went on an adventure to the hospital. Not the emergency room, but, an unplanned event none-the-less. 15 months and he needed to be glued back together. My poor little boy.

While playing at the park with Granny and Grandpa he fell and bumped his head. It wasn't until the trip was over, everyone was back home, and ready for a snack, that they realized Liam’s chin was busted open. I guess the sweatshirt soaked up all the blood. Yikes.

I was teaching at my new school, and had my (first!) emergency-ish (but not really) phone call. I experienced a few seconds with my heart in my throat when my teaching partner, Megan, told me it was Grandma on the phone. Only one reason she would be calling the school. Liam.

I maintained my cool as I walked to the phone, only to learn everything I have already told you. Breathe in, I can relax. Nothing I can do at the moment so I went back to working with a student. Megan (I know you’re reading this!!) was apparently impressed with my calm. Looking back on it, I guess I did keep my composure, considering this was my first Mommy accident.

The irony of the story is my grandparents didn’t have any of Liam’s medical information until Monday. All last year, it never occurred to me to give it to them. Now that I did, they needed it. I either jinxed myself, or I was just in time!

Liam went to the doctor and was glued together (no stitches, thankfully) and had a Tetanus shot. The nurses gave him the baby-of-the-day award since he didn’t cry at all. That’s my boy!

Here are some pictures of his first war wound.

And, he's still happy.

Even though I knew he was okay by the pictures, my heart still dropped just thinking about the phone call you received. Let's hope it's the first AND last! Good job keeping your cool in the classroom. So glad that Liam is okay. He's such a cutie!
