Vacation Leg 2: Wyoming

After the week spent camping across Nevada, we joined my Dad, his wife, Pam, and my brother, Kent. They flew to Jackson Hole and we met them in Colter Bay, an area of the Grand Titans National Park. We spent our 4 days here camping, hiking, swimming, and relaxing. It was a treat to have extra people to share cooking, cleaning, and watching Liam. The Titans are AMAZING. If you have a chance, GO. I preferred it far above Yellowstone. The landscape was incomparable; from the majestic mountains, the valleys, the animals, the lakes. Everything you could ask for, close together, in magnificent glory. God's creation is diverse and awe-inspiring.

The mountain range, across from Colter Bay. You aren't actually seeing the Grand Titan. It's over to the left of this picture. I don't know what this peak is named. Ryan went kayaking in the lake while the rest of us hiked around it. In the midst of his trip, an afternoon thunderstorm swept through, bringing with it lightning, rain, and hail. Ryan said it was amazing, watching it hit the water.

The first hike we took was around Two Ocean Lake. It was a 6 1/2 mile trip around the lake, combined with a 1 mile (each way) climb up the mountain to Grand View Point. It seemed like a good idea on the way up, but afterwards, I thought I might die. As we hiked the lake path we passed through meadows filled with wild flowers, over streams babbling by, all with an incredible view of snow capped mountains.

Ready to Go!Liam discovered a) how to throw, and b) the fun of all types and sizes of rock. Combine those together, and you have the idea.

Our favorite evening adventure were the buffalo. We watched a hundred of them cross over from the meadow, that you can see, to the other side of the road- the mountain/lake side. They would move right in front of you through two holes in a fence (done purposefully to guide the animals). The full power of these animals was fear provoking. From a distance they just looked like giant cows.

A windy night as we watched the buffalo
See you in Yellowstone!
