Our much anticipated two-week long vacation is coming to a close as we are on a fast westward hall towards California. Ryan and Liam are getting ready for a dip in the hotel swimming pool and I am catching up on the world around me. What a wonderful experience, to be away from technology, news, dishwashers... Back to reality, yes, but equally ready for my own bed.
Here is a brief overview of the trip, with more specific pictures and events to come later in the week. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't camp with a toddler. It was all fun, pretty easy (even today's 5 hour drive) and full of special memories. We started it off in Nevada, at a campsite called Thomas Canyon. It was AMAZING. If you are ever traveling across highway 80 and need a place to stay near Elko, this is your place. We hiked the Ruby mountains, also named the Alps of Nevada. We discovered that it is so named because of the way the mountains reflect the setting sun. Gorgeous.
Ryan's dive into the glacier lake. Yikes.

A hard day's work for a little guy!
Leg Two of the vacation was spent in the Grand Tetons, in Wyoming. This is a must see, if you like mountains, hiking, and outdoors. I favored this national park far over Yellowstone, where we ventured towards the end of the week. Here is a view of the mountain range across one of the lakes. We hiked into the mountains as well as around the lakes and valleys.

A family picture. Notice who is carrying the Monster. Again. Not me.

The entire crew, entering Yellowstone. Me, Pam, Dad, Kent, Liam and Ryan
Camping with Liam!
We experienced a daily migration of buffalo from the valley to the river each evening in the Titans. My brother saw them every night. He couldn't get enough. It was spectacular to see these huge animals lumber across a highway. Liam calls them "buff."

Kent and I atop the Grand View Point, our most difficult hike, by far, 8.6 miles in total, but left us with this spectacular view of the mountains.
There will be more pictures to come once I unpack, do laundry, and get a much deserved pedicure. I hope that you enjoy the trip as much as we did! Be ready for some cute ones of the little monster. He was a pleasure to have along the road. It is surprising to me, how things are twice as fun with Liam around.
